| Joel Ward created the Bird Bath Illusion in 1998 when Joel was getting ready to compete for his fist magic competition at the International Brotherhood of Magicians Annual Magic Competition in Little Rock, Arkansas. Joel Ward and creative master, Loren Christopher Michaels, built the first Bird Bath in January of 1999. Joel Ward won First Place in Stage Magic that year with this creative masterpiece, which soon led to a television appearance with Master Magician Lance Burton.
Effect:Magician is going through his bird act producing white doves when suddenly he produces a blue dove. He looks at it like he has never seen a blue dove and comes up with an idea. He pulls out a miniature glass bathtub fixed with a shower curtain and all. The blue dove is placed inside the bathtub and the curtain is drawn. Magician pulls out a bottle dove soap and squirts it into the birdbath. Magician then pulls out a white scrub brush, which he places inside the curtained tub. After a few scrubs, the scrub-brush comes out blue. Magician opens up curtain to reveal a clean, white dove!
This illusion can be altered for any situation. You can use any small animal: Parakeets, Cocktails, Love Birds, Rats, Mice, etc. You can even change the color of dirty socks, ties, or a volunteers shoe. Ideas are endless.
